sites of the Southern Britain
led by David Furlong and
Michael Schirmer
Wednesday 14th September - Wednesday 21st June 2006
|
Day 1 - 14 June |
Arrive in the UK
from destinations. Travel to Malvern.
.
|
|
Day 2 - 15 June |
The Malvern Temple.
Set out over the Malvern Hills is beautiful geometric pattern that
reflects the “Tree of Life”. We will spend the day exploring some of the
key sites along the Malvern Hills, including it’s beacons and holy wells
and tuning into different chakric points that run down through its length.
These hills are some of the most ancient in Europe and hold deep spirit
significance for the spiritual energies of Britain. We will also visit
some of the key sites on one of Alfred Watkin’s famous ley-lines, that
starts at the Giant’s cave on the side of the Malvern Hills and travels to
the ancient Cistercian monastery of Abbey Dore. |
|
Day 3 - 16 June |
Setting out from
Malvern we will first visit some of the sacred sites around Breedon Hill,
including the Abbey sites of Tewkesbury and Pershore. Like the Malverns
there is also a sacred geometric pattern that links key church sites that
surround this imposing hill. We will explore there energies before heading
further east to visit the landscape circle of the Cotswolds. This pattern,
with a diameter of twelve miles (19k) includes a number of sacred sites
including the famous Rollright stone circle, which we will visit. We will
then head south to visit the famous university city of Oxford before
returning back to Malvern. |
|
Day 4 - 17 June |
Wales, the land of the
Red Dragon, has long association with Merlin and Arthur. We will first
visit an ancient burial mound called Arthur’s stone before venturing
further into Wales to experience some of it’s energies and sacred
landscape. We will visit the Bronze Age stone circle of Cerrig Duon in the
Brecon Beacons before heading to Tintern Abbey near Chepstow and a group
of standing stones called Harold’s Stones near Monmouth. We will return
back to Malvern via Ross-on-Wye. |
|
Day 5 - 18 June |
Glastonbury has long
been regarded as one of the foremost spiritual centres of Britain. During
this day we will visit a number of special sites in the area including the
famous Abbey, the great Tor, and the holy well in Chalice Well gardens.
With so much to see in this area we will let our intuition guide us in the
most appropriate places to visit. Time permitting on the return journey we
will visit the vast stone circle complex at Stanton Drew, which ranks
second to Avebury in its size and scope. |
|
Day 6 - 19 June |
Instead of the mini-bus on this day we will take the train to London. This
will give an opportunity to visit some of the sacred sites within the
capital of the UK. Like other areas of Britain a sacred landscape pattern
has been set out around the capital. This pattern links to famous sites
like the Tower and Westminster Abbey. We will also visit some other sites
made famous in the Da Vinci code such as the Temple Church and St Paul’s
cathedral. |
|
Day 7 - 20 June |
On
this penultimate day we will travel south to visit some of the great
ancient monuments of Wessex, visiting first Stonehenge, perhaps the most
famous of all British monuments. We will then head back to visit the
vast henge monument of Avebury and the nearby and enigmatic Silbury
Hill. We will also visit the ancient long barrow at the West Kennet
erected more than five thousand years ago. This long barrow forms part
of the landscape pattern of the Marlborough Downs. We will finish the
day in the ancient market town of Marlborough.
